Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got significant backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell like this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
